Get your Walkman and Awesome Mix Volume 1 & 2 at the ready as Star Lord, Rocket Racoon, Groot, Gamora and Drax the Destroyer will be returning in 2015 for an animated TV series of Guardians of the Galaxy. The news was broken this week at the New York Comic Con by the Marvel Team and Disney XD. Marc Buhaj, a Disney XD Executive, said, “we’re looking forward to working with the great team at Marvel Television to deliver an engaging animated series that fans can enjoy each week“.
The show will go out in 2015 as part of a “Marvel Universe” block proposed by Disney XD. This is the latest Marvel title to grace the small screen along with the already popular Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the animated series Marvel’s Avengers Assemble. It is no surprise that the Guardians are being taken on for a series really. In its opening weekend at the box office, Guardians of the Galaxy took in over $94 million, and over the summer has raked in over $600 million worldwide. As fans patiently await the sequel in 2017, they only have to wait until 2015 to get their weekly dosage of the galaxy-saving band of misfits. And if that is too long, then here is the test footage to keep you going until then.
