Odario, an artist known for his innovative and eclectic approach to music, has once again challenged himself creatively by joining forces with the Edmonton jazz ensemble, Good Information, for a new track titled “Do Nada“.
The single encapsulates the essence of leading a simpler, uncomplicated lifestyle amidst a fast-paced post-pandemic world. It encourages listeners to take a moment of pause to ponder and reflect in our often frantic society.
Explaining the inspiration behind the song, Odario said, “I wanted to inject new sonic energy into my single ‘Do Nada,’ which is a song about doing nothing. “Do Nada (Chaix Remix)” is an apathetic dance track I made with Chaix, a multi-genre artist and beatmaker from Toronto.
This song is crafted specifically for your solo apartment party, your night drive along the lonely highway, or your day off spent next to the pool with a pair of headphones and an open schedule.”
Odario, known for his work as a songwriter and frontman for Grand Analog, is a lover of hip-hop and varied musical soundscapes. His music is deeply rooted in his upbringing, reflecting the raw essence of South American villages where his parents grew up, and their journey to the north.
Odario’s unique voice and perceptive lyrics have significantly shaped Grand Analog’s sound since their debut album, Calligraffiti, in 2007.
Apart from being a talented performer, Odario juggles multiple roles. He is a raconteur, an actor, a DJ, and currently hosts CBC Music’s afterdark program. He has also contributed to various other artists’ tracks, most notably the Halluci Nation single “Ba Na Na” with Haviah Mighty.
In 2020, Odario launched his debut solo single, “Low Light (In This Space)”, featuring Dawn Pemberton, which received considerable airplay on the Los Angeles radio station, KCRW.
That same year, he toured across Canada, opening for Bedouin Soundclash and released his Good Morning Hunter EP, co-written and produced by film composer Todor Kobakov. The EP was described as “cinematic hip hop”.
