Hackney-born Melisa Whiskey has collaborated with Nigerian star producer Jaypizzle for an up-tempo hit “Crazy Love” that fuses her British R&B vibe and her Nigerian Afrobeats roots. Those eclectic roots gave birth to an original yet addictive tune, which showcases Melisa’s effortlessly soulful voice and melody.
The merging between Jaypizzle and the singer results in a colourful track that is very relatable in terms of lyrics. On this track, which was written in Nigeria, the singer recreates sounds that are clearly her own, creating music that perfectly reflects her versatility.
Speaking about the song, Melisa states: “I wrote Crazy Love whilst at my family house in Ikeja Lagos Nigeria. The beat was produced by Jaypizzle and immediately I felt inspired drawing from a whirlwind bad relationship experience of unrequited & CRAZY love”.
In this song, the Londoner artist transforms a painful breakup in a powerful anthem. As Melisa says, “I wrote Crazy Love coz, at the time I was in a really dark place and was literally pouring my heart out through music”.
This song is Melisa’s latest appetiser to her forthcoming EP that’s been in the pipeline since 2018. With this promising new track, we can only say that we are awaiting this new release.
