For many, her debut EP First Signs of Me was the introduction to the talent that is Hamzaa. An incredibly gifted vocalist with a lot to offer the world, that very EP combined beautifully crafted production with soul-stirring songwriting. She has brought to life singles “You” and “Breathing” (and a sequel with Ghetts and Wretch 32) with videos and now she does it again.
Hamzaa releases the new visuals to her touching track “Red“, the powerful re-telling of a dark period of her life. Directed by Filmawi Efrem and filmed at Southend on Sea, it circles around an isolated, wandering, male protagonist. The inflections in her voice strike chords as she sings about her mental health, interpreted by his intricate dance moves.
Hamzaa describes the clip as her “most vulnerable moment, shared with the world, so others can see there is a way out…” From the lyrics to the vocals, amplified with a cinematic short-film styled visuals, “Red” is a tear-jerker by all means.
