CEO of Disney, Bob Iger has confirmed that an upcoming Han Solo movie will get a May 2018 release date. According to reports in Comicbook.com, Iger, speaking at a Walt Disney earnings call, said:
“This is the first set of planned stand-alone stories.”, referencing the upcoming Rogue One, “we’re already in preproduction on our next one, for release in May of 2018.” The next one being a Han Solo movie.
Despite Solo being famously portrayed by actor Harrison Ford, it is yet unclear if he will appear in the movie, or if plans are underway for another actor to play a young Solo.
The next instalment in the Star Wars franchise is set to be Episode VIII, the sequel to the incredibly successful Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and is scheduled for release December 2017.
