Harry Styles And Ansel Elgort In The Running To Play Elvis Presley | Film News

Harry Styles and Ansel Elgort are two of the stars in the running to play Elvis Presley in a new biopic.

The former One Direction heartthrob made his big screen debut in 2017 with “Dunkirk”, Christopher Nolan’s epic retelling of the evacuation of Allied soldiers from the beach of Dunkirk in northern France during World War Two.

Elgort became a household name after he starred as a cancer patient in romantic teen drama The Fault In Our Stars back in 2014. In 2017, he played the title character in Edgar Wright’s action thriller “Baby Driver”, and received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture.

The film will be directed by Baz Luhrmann, best known for “Moulin Rouge!” and “Australia”.

Other actors who have had a screen test for the role include Miles Teller, who rose to prominence as jazz drummer Andrew Neiman in Whiplash, and Austin Butler, who is starring in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Fresh from his role in Toy Story 4, Tom Hanks has been confirmed to play Presley’s manager Colonel Tom Parker. The film will focus on Presley’s early life along with the relationship between him and Parker.

According to IMDB, the film is in pre-production and filming is expected to start later this year.
