The rumour mill is at it again and this one needs to be taken with a huge pinch of salt. Still, there are rumblings that Marvel have already eyed a replacement for Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man and he’ll apparently be ready to take over as soon as 2019 for Iron Man 4, although the movie is yet to be officially announced.
A source has told Movie Pilot that Iron Man 3‘s Harley Keener played by Ty Simpkins is up for the job for replacing Downey. At the end of the third Iron Man installment, Tony Stark kitted out the young Keener will a whole heap of superhero must-haves, could they have been setting up the character for bigger things in the franchise when he’ll reach the tender age of 17?
Hmm, we’re not so sure but it’s an interesting theory and would mean amazing things for Simpkins, who’s already knocking up a pretty impressive filmography with performances in Insidious and the up and coming Jurassic World. The jury’s out on this one as there’s not a huge amount of credibility from the Movie Pilot story but still, good luck to ya, Simpkins!
