At present, it has been three years since anything like a new release from alt-rock favourites, Vampire Weekend. Frontman, Ezra Koenig, has certainly been active both during, and in the wake of, the recent US election, and it seems he found time from his busy Twitter schedule to impress the chief executive of Colombia Records, Rob Stringer.
The industry publication, HITS Daily Double, today published an article which states that the band are in the process of signing a deal with the major record label in order to record their next full-length project, which is slated to come in mid-2017.
Ezra last gave information on the prospect of a new album nearly a year ago, when he informed fans of the departure of bassist, Rostam Batmanglij, and that there was definitely going to be a new release, to follow on from 2013’s Modern Vampires of the City.
