Fans of HBO‘s hit western Deadwood were left high and dry when the plug was pulled in 2006 after just 3 seasons, despite the series receiving rave reviews. Now, 10 years on, it’s looking increasingly likely that Deadwood will return – either as a film, or a short run on TV to tie up loose ends. Michael Lombardo, HBO‘s president, has given his personal thumbs up to creator David Milch to resurrect the show.
Lombardo seems very confident that Deadwood will ride into town again, in some form or other. Speaking to TVLine, Lombardo confirmed: “David has our commitment that we are going to do it. He pitched what he thought generally the storyline would be — and knowing David, that could change. But it’s going to happen.” In a sentiment no doubt echoed by fans of the show, he added “I’ve known (David) for a while and it feels like it’s something he’s not done talking about.”
Perhaps Deadwood fans will now get the ending they feel they deserve?
