The Billboard awards aired on May 22, starting off on a high note with a performance by 90s pop icon Britney Spears with a ten minute medley of her hits. Ciara and Ludacris hosted the show and tested the audience’s concentration with plenty of outfit changes.
Post R&B artist The Weeknd was awarded the Top Hot 100 Award, dedicating it to his recently passed inspiration Prince. Wiz Khalifa won the Top 100 Song for “See You Again” feat Charlie Puth and Adele surprised no one by winning the Top Artist award.
The Weeknd walked away with many deserved awards, Top R’n’B song for “The Hills”, Top Song Sales, Top R’n’B Artist and Top R’n’B Album for Beauty Behind the Madness amongst others.
Performances by Justin Bieber, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Kesha with her Bob Dylan cover took the night by storm and created a truly memorable night.
