Hilary Swank Joins Political Thriller ‘The Hunt’ | Film News

Hilary Swank, conspicuously absent from many leading roles until her recent Netflix film I Am Mother, has a new project in the works.

The two-time Oscar winner will star in The Hunt, a political action thriller in the works at Universal and Blumhouse. Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse have written the screenplay. Z For Zachariah director Craig Zobel is helming the film.

Plot details are totally under wraps, so there isn’t much to add. The film has been described as both an action thriller and a horror thriller in various publications. So it’s a little unclear what sort of tone thing thing will actually take. We do know that Swank joins a cast that already contains Emma Roberts, Ike Barinholtz, Glenn Howerton, and Betty Gilpin.

Universal has tinkered with The Hunt‘s release date multiple times since announcing the project. They initially said the film would arrive Friday, September 27, before pushing it back to October 18, swapping dates with another untitled Blumhouse project. Then, humorously, they moved it back to its September 27 date.

The film will now open against Chadwick Boseman‘s action film, 21 Bridges, and the animated feature Abominable.

We will now sit on our hands and wait for plot details. Swank is certainly on the comeback trail though, as she’s also the star of the forthcoming Netflix drama series, Away.
