Krispy & The Pooch are a Berlin-based New Zealand duo, made up of Kriston Batistic (aka Krispy) and Simon Townsend (aka The Pooch), and “Holding On” is their brand new single, on the back of their latest EP Something Strange For Change and this year’s “Rollin” single.
Their music can best be described as a blend of soothing neo-soul, funk, rock, and electronic music, underpinned by honest, tender and playful lyrics and songwriting, and you can hear it on their new track “Holding On”, which is a smooth, old-school R&B influenced bop about breakups and the struggles of trying to move on from failed relationships.
The track is self-produced, recorded, arranged and mixed by Krispy (Kriston Batistic) & The Pooch (Simon Townsend) and mastered by Silver Scroll winner Thomas Oliver. Speaking about how the track came about, Krispy & The Pooch say, “Our goal was to capture that early 2000’s R&B sound with a modern twist, and we took influence from artists like D’Angelo and Justin Timberlake“.
There’s no word on whether this new track “Holding On” is from a new or future project from Krispy & The Pooch, but we’ll keep you posted on that, as we hear more. In the meantime, listen to “Holding On” below:
