There’s been a lot of buzz recently about the possibility of the X-Men team finding their way into the world of the Avengers and Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman has commented on the possibility. Jackman has been speaking to MTV about such opportunity and confirms he actually remains hopeful about the cross-over.
Now that Sony and Marvel have shared the rights to Spider-Man, Jackman feels pretty positive about the likelihood of a possible cross-over for the mutants; “I like to think there’s that possibility for all of it, and I would even like to think more that it doesn’t happen out of necessity, y’know, when someone’s run it into the ground or something. I optimistically love the idea of, ‘What the hell, Batman versus Iron Man versus Wolverine!’ Let’s just chuck ‘em in”. The star continued; “We’ll see what happens, but maybe as these things go on more and more they’ll want to and need to do all that stuff. I’m optimistic, I’d think it’d be great, but hey, it’s not my billions of dollars behind this promise. It’s easy for us to speculate”.
Jackman went on to talk about the next Wolverine movie and confirms that director James Mangold is looking to the comic books for some inspiration. While Jackman remains excited about all these possible changes and ideas, I’m more skeptical. I really didn’t like the Wolverine movies so frankly, I have no faith in the next installment, comic book inspired or not. Still, the new X-Men flicks with James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are awesome so I’m actually quite hopeful for a cross-over of that nature. Still, we’ll have to wait and see if Logan will come toe-to-toe with Robert Downey Jr‘s Iron Man.
