Jamaican artist Lila Iké has released a new single titled “True Love”. The song is a love letter to herself, which was produced by Natural High Music, with an accompanying music video directed by Ayana Riviére.
Speaking about the song, Lila Iké says, “it has almost been a year since I freestyled this song. My energy levels were low due to everything that was going on with the pandemic at the time. It was important for me to turn my feelings into something that might give hope to others who like me, maybe experiencing similar feelings
In retrospect, I’m realizing this song is a personal love letter to my future self on healing and coping with everything I’m experiencing right now. As much light as it gives me, I hope it gives this energy to everyone who needs it right now“.
This year will be exciting for the Jamaican star, as she prepares for the release of her debut album as well as her first tour since the pandemic, performing songs from her critically acclaimed 2020 EP The ExPerience, which was released via RCA Records and Protoje’s In.Digg.Nation Collective.
Lila Iké boasts impressive credentials, which include being nominated for the ‘Best Reggae Act’ at the 2020 MOBO Awards, being named among the top artists for 2020 by SPIN, and selected for BBC 1Xtra’s ‘Hot for 2020’ artists list.
Among her globetrotting performances were Rototom Sunsplash (Spain), Sole DXB Festival (Dubai), Reggae Sumfest (Montego Bay, Jamaica), and BRIC’s Celebrate Brooklyn in New York City.
