Zack Snyder’s Justice League is redesigning the look of the Joker as it takes the character back back to the long hair, smudged makeup, and old bloody clothes. While the previous Joker look has been a more colourful gangster vibe like in Suicide Squad, this new look is what we call old-school and it also teases a possible reunion with Batman in the film.
Jared Leto wasn’t originally involved in this film, but after a long campaign by fans to bring Zack Snyder’s Justice League to fruition was successful and Snyder was given free reign to do so along with with a massive budget, the director cold-called Leto to ask him if he wanted to be involved and of course, he is.
The new design reminds us of Heath Ledger’s Joker, it’s also been speculated that Jared Leto will appear in one of the film’s ‘Knightmare’ sequences, which shows 5 years down the line in the future, where the villainous Darkseid is ruling the world, and of course, the iconic Joker couldn’t be left out.
The redesigned look also hides all the tattoos shown in previous films, and it’s implied by Snyder that he may have found ways to get rid of or cover up his tattoos. This hasn’t been confirmed but he told Vanity Fair, “I don’t know if he’s wearing makeup, I don’t know what’s happening. It’s hard to say exactly”, meaning that the reason itself doesn’t matter as much as showing his version of the Joker.
