Javier Bardem wowed us as super-psycho Silva in Sam Mendes‘ Skyfall but now it seems he’ll be getting his swash-buckle on as the new Pirates of the Caribbean 5 villain. Despite the production of the fifth movie in the Pirate franchise being really slow, things have finally seemed to pick up after this brilliant news!
The Wrap were the ones to get the scoop that Bardem was in initial talks about the role but over at THR, they claim Bardem’s character will be a ghostly captain who blames Jack Sparrow for the death of his brother, and is set for revenge! Spooky, huh?
It was rumored that Christopher Waltz was going to get the part but apparently, Bardem’s the man for the job! He was found to be genuinly frightening in Skyfall, so how will he fair in this family-friendly movie? Pretty well, we think. Considering his wife, Penelope Cruz, made her appearance in On Stranger Tides, we reckon she can give him a few pointers!
