Jay Rock‘s recently released third studio album Redemption has gone down quite a storm. Featuring appearances from J. Cole, Future as well as TDE labelmates SZA and Kendrick Lamar, it might just be an album of the year contender. To further boost his claim, he’s released a nostalgic new video for “ES Tales“.
Directed by Jack Begart and Dave Free, the video sees Jay Rock emerge from his home to see that his surroundings are slowly turning into an 8-bit video game world, filled to the brim with references to legendary NES games, including Punch-Out!!! and Paperboy. As he drives down the street, he catches random events in a blocky, pixelated view – from a police altercation to a woman twerking on the sidewalk.
Aforementioned, “ES Tales” is taken from Jay Rock’s new album Redemption, which is preceded by visual treatments for “WIN”, “The Bloodiest” and the instantly-iconic “King’s Dead”.
