Jennifer Lawrence To Return To The Big Screen With New A24 Role | Film News

Jennifer Lawrence quietly took a little time off leading roles over the last few years. In fact, it’s not since she was filming Red Sparrow and mother! in 2017 that she’s shot a lead role. But that is about to change. The Oscar-winning actress has signed on to lead a new untitled film from acclaimed theatre director Lila Neugebauer for A24.

Unfortunately, there’s absolutely no news on what the film is actually about. We do know that it hails from first time screenwriter Elizabeth Sanders, and will be produced by industry veterans Scott Rudin and Eli Bush. But with A24 behind it – the studio responsible for such films as Lady Bird, Moonlight, Eighth Grade, and 20th Century Women – it’s certainly something worth getting excited about.

Neugebauer made her Broadway debut last year directing the revival of Kenneth Lonergan‘s The Waverly Gallery, which starred Elaine May and Lucas Hedges. She also helmed an episode of the HBO series Room 104. It will be fascinating to see what she can do with a silver screen project, and it’s cool to see Lawrence taking a chance on two new female creative voices.

Filming on the project is expected to get underway in June in New Orleans. We will have likely discovered what the film is actually about by then.
