Things seem to be looking up for the revival of the xXx franchise, with two of the biggest names in martial art cinema stepping in to the fray. Not much is known about the plot or release date of the film however, so their specific roles are yet to be confirmed. This will be the first Hollywood film for Jet Li after a two year absence, with a short cameo on Expendables 3 being his last major work in the west.
This is also not the first time Tony Jaa will be working with Vin Diesel, as he previously worked with the actor on 2015’s Furious 7 as both a trainer and antagonist to the film. It is no secret that the franchise has held negative to mediocre reception, but perhaps with the announcement of an impressive cast (including Samuel L. Jackson) there could be hope.
