In honour of the 30th anniversary of the Japanese anime series Sailor Moon, Jimmy Choo and “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon” have released a capsule collection.
The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon creator Naoko Takeuchi collaborated with Jimmy Choo’s creative director Sandra Choi on the collection, which promotes “bold individuality, zeitgeist-defining imagery, and female empowerment.”
According to a statement from Jimmy Choo, the collection combines the ideas of the two female designers, framing the influence of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon on popular culture through the iconic Jimmy Choo “prism of luxury and glamour.”
Commenting on the collaboration, Choi said: “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is a unique global phenomenon – a manga and anime that resonates, bridging cultures and languages, speaking to different generations, bringing us all together. That is what drew me to this project, to celebrate 30 years of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon through this collaboration.”
The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon artworks from Takeuchi will be displayed in Jimmy Choo flagship stores all over the world to celebrate the collection, along with iridescent limited-edition packaging.
Additionally, as part of the collaboration, DJ Honey Dijon has worked on two original tracks that were inspired by Sailor Moon.
The new Jimmy Choo x Sailor Moon collection will be available for purchase on February 14 from the Jimmy Choo website.
