Two breakout stars of massive franchises have signed on to team up for a sci-fi love story. John Boyega of Star Wars fame and Letitia Wright, arguably the standout of Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, have signed on to star in Hold Back The Stars, an adaptation of the Katie Khan novel of the same name.
The story follows a man and a woman who revisit memories of their love affair on a utopian earth while they are trapped in the void of space with only 90 minutes worth of oxygen remaining. Mike Cahill is on board to direct, which makes sense considering he’s already directed two films with a central romance mixed with sci-fi themes – Another Earth and I Origins.
Christy Hall has penned the screenplay and Shawn Levy is producing via his 21 Laps banner. A studio is not currently attached but it is clear that there will be plenty vying to get their hands on this project with two up-and-coming stars in the lead roles.
Boyega is currently shooting Star Wars: Episode IX while Wright will likely next appear in Avengers 4 and is also expected to reprise her role as Shuri in Black Panther 2, which Ryan Coogler is returning to write and direct.
