Kong: Skull Island has picked John Ortiz (American Gangster) and Shea Whigham (Agent Carter, Boardwalk Empire) to join its star studded cast. Already set to star in the film are Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, Toby Kebbell and John Goodman. Whilst there are no specific details on their characters, it is speculated that they will be playing members of the team of explorers who come upon a mysterious Island.
Due to be released around early March, 2017, the film begins production in the latter part of this year, with Jordan Vogt –Roberts directing. Hiddleston expressed his excitement over the film in an interview with MTV, where he revealed that it would be more than just a remake. Said to be rebooted in many aspects, Kong: Skull Island will give us a fresh time period, location and cultural context.
The film also moved from Universal to Warner Brothers, in order to bring it under the same roof as Godzilla – to make way for a King Kong versus Godzilla film, no doubt – so we should be in for some major action in the near future. As Hiddleston has confirmed that the film will most definitely be a treat, the only thing left to do is to sit down and wait for the release date! Could the year 2017 come any faster?
