Who’d have thought the 2014 Keanu Reeves-led movie that everyone assumed would be a run-of-the-mill action film would have spawned into a franchise attracting some big names just four years later? John Wick: Chapter Three is coming together nicely, and has now added a bunch of great actors to its already fantastic cast.
Reeves is obviously returning in the title role, but the film has now added Halle Berry as the female lead, Sofia, a character who is reportedly not a villain. Anjelica Huston has also signed on as a character simply known as The Director, while Asia Kate Dillon (Billions) will play The Adjudicator of The High Table.
But that’s not all. Jason Mantzoukas has signed on to play the fantastically-named Tick Tock Man, while Mark Dacascos (Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will play an assassin named Zero. The film has also added martial arts star Tiger Hu Chen and The Raid actors Yaya Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman as characters who will square off against Reeves’ titular badass.
That’s in addition to Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick reprising their roles from the previous films. The story of this sequel reportedly picks up directly after the events at the end of John Wick: Chapter Two.
That’s a pretty incredible list of additions and should turn Chapter Three into the wildest – and best acted – John Wick entry yet. Chad Stahelski is returning to direct this instalment, which is also rumoured to be the final film in the series, but if demand (and profits) are there it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the franchise continue.
Chapter Three is currently set to hit cinemas May 17, 2019.
