We recently got a glimpse of The Hustle, a new comedy that’s inspired by the 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. It seems re-jigging classic comedies for a contemporary audience might soon become a trend, as another is in development.
Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage are set to star in the comedy Brothers. The film is inspired by another 1988 film, Twins, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
Brolin and Dinklage are set to play – you guessed it – brothers, and that’s all we know right now. The rest of the plot is being kept under wraps. We do know that there was reportedly a bidding war for the project, and Legendary came out on top.
The script has been written by Etan Cohen, who has had some hits combined with some very big misses in his career. He wrote Tropic Thunder, but his other credits include films such as Get Hard and the recent Holmes & Watson, which got atrocious reviews. However, Cohen is not currently attached to direct, so Legendary may look to bring in another filmmaker to helm the project.
Without knowing much about the project it’s hard to really make a judgement. But Brolin and Dinklage are two great actors, and seeing them together in a comedy should be fun. They’re both set to have big years too. Brolin will appear in the mammoth Avengers: Endgame, while Dinklage will reprise his role as Tyrion Lannister in the final season of Game Of Thrones.
