DJ and music producer, Juls, has teamed up with Kojo Funds, Not3s and Eugy. Juls is responsible for some of the hottest Afrobeats tracks of last year, including the smash hit, “Skin Tight”, featuring Mr Eazi and Efya. He now drops the second single, “Bad”, off his debut EP, set for release this spring this year.
“Bad” is a moody, grooving, sultry number. Autotune is used subtly, creating a wavy and heated atmosphere, thick and hard to breathe. The rapping proper shifts the song to its next gear, the verses both melodic and lyrical. The lines “slow down, and go low” very much evoke a nightclub setting, girls grinding to the floor.
The visuals, by Mira Jebari, funnily enough, take place in a nightclub of sorts. The camera has a purplish tint and hue, reminiscent of the track’s thick and smoky atmospherics. The air thick with lust, the dancefloor thronging with shapely ladies. The camera appears to shift focus upon Juls, as ever behind the decks, in the closing moments.
