Following the end of her Saturday Night Live tenure, Kate McKinnon is signing on to star in Searchlight’s In The Blink of An Eye. Oscar winner Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, WALL-E) is directing, with Colby Day writing the script.
The film follows three storylines, spanning thousands of years, which intersect and reflect on hope, connection, and the circle of life.
Stanton has won two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature, but in recent years he’s become better known for his directing work on hit shows such as Stranger Things and Better Call Saul.
Day, who is also serving as an executive producer on In The Blink Of An Eye, has a big year ahead of him that includes Adam Sandler sci-fi film Spaceman for Netflix.
McKinnon is coming off one of the great runs on Saturday Night Live, which ended at the end of last season, but not before she took home multiple Emmys for her work.
Expect to see her in films more frequently now, which will include Greta Gerwig‘s highly-anticipated Barbie movie, which arrives this summer and stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
It will be great to see McKinnon in a lead role, and Stanton’s background with the sci-fi genre should mean that In The Blink Of An Eye is in good hands. No release date for the film is currently set.
