Kathryn Hahn will star in a potential new comedy series that HBO has given a pilot series order to. The show will be based on the New York Times bestselling novel Mrs. Fletcher by Tom Perrotta (The Leftovers) with Hahn set to play the title role.
The book follows empty-nest mother Eve Fletcher and her college-student son as they embrace their newfound freedom with mixed results. Hoping to jump-start her love life, Eve adopts a sexy new persona and soon realises that her world is full of unexpected erotic possibilities.
The show is being described as a coming-of-age story for both characters, while exploring the impact of internet porn and social media on intimate relationships. Perrotta himself will write the pilot and will also act as executive producer, while Nicole Holofcener (Enough Said) will direct.
Hahn has often been the best part of any project she’s been in, whether it’s the Bad Moms films or shows like Transparent, which earned her an Emmy nomination. Those roles have often been supporting ones, so it’s great to see her take the lead in a project that has plenty of potential to be great.
As Game Of Thrones gears up to end, HBO is making moves to keep the great content coming. With season 2 of Westworld arriving soon, and Big Little Lies eventually returning, the network is mining plenty of popular source material to keep subscribers on board.
