Singer and actress Keke Palmer releases her music video for her new song “Yellow Lights”.
The video starts with flashing typography before showing the singer outdoors with male dancers wearing all black with their face covered (known as her ‘Shadow Kids’ who also featured in her music video for “Enemiez” featuring Jeremih)and female dancers dressed in white.
The singer, who is also a star in TV series Scream Queens, says the video is also an ode to late singer Aaliyah. “One of my favourite videos was ‘4 Page Letter’ by Aaliyah so the vision for the video was a take on that vibe, mixed in with who I am as an artist,” explained Palmer. “I love Aaliyah. To me she was a true artist in every sense of the word and I continue to just be inspired by her and let my heart guide me as always”.
It is unsure whether the music video is either a promo or the official one as it seems to cut to black before the song has even finished. However the song is excellent and riding this alternative moody mellow R&B sound most artists seem to be trying out recently.
