Kendrick Lamar has hinted at what to expect from his highly anticipated second album. The rapper’s most recent single “I” had a more upbeat, commercial sound than we had come to expect after Good Kid M.A.A.D City and proved to divide fans’ opinions. However, Lamar has revealed in a recent interview with XXL Magazine that the track was made for the fans he had met on the road, that were in a dark place and had been saved by his music. “I” is not expected to set the tone for the rest of the album, the rapper said, adding that “I’m not an artist that’s gonna give you a single and say, ‘This is what my album’s gonna sound like, go sell it.’ That’s not me“. Lamar’s second studio album was originally slated for release at the end of 2014 but this has since been rescheduled for an early 2015 release.
