As the countdown is on to the premier of Black Panther and subsequent release of the original soundtrack, Kendrick Lamar delights fans with the release of the first music video from the album and it’s, as expected, for the first single. Kendrick and SZA take us on an audible and visual journey to the land of Wakanda for their latest music video for “All The Stars”
Directed by Dave Meyers and The Little Homies, “All The Stars” features an all-black cast and submerses the viewer into numerous biblical-looking landscapes, full of bright colors, african patterns and literal black panthers at one point keeping with the Afrofuturist aesthetics of the film’s fictional land.
Kendrick is first seen in a boat surfing atop a vast sea of people, then surrounded by sharply dressed folk, a possible nod to the Gentlemen of Bacongo while SZA is shown dancing amongst the stars. While you’re waiting for the movie release day, feast your eyes on the new video below.
Black Panther: The Album drops Feb. 9 via Interscope Records. Marvel’s Black Panther hits theaters nationwide February 12.
