Afro-swing innovator Kojo Funds keeps us on our toes once again with an unexpected sound and an unexpected collaboration as he unveils his newest single “Who Am I?” featuring Manchester hot property Bugzy Malone. It also comes through with a slick new official video to match.
‘The Golden Boy’ teams up with ‘The King of the North’ for this electric new Remedy-produced single, blending classic UKG beats with the melodic yet gritty raps Kojo is so widely revered for, and the fierce grime lyricism Bugzy has made his own.
With the official video, the UK pair travel to the other side of the world and find themselves amongst the Japanese aesthetic. Shot in Tokyo, the pair transition from lurking through the backstreets of the ‘Tokyo underground’ to driving round in modified supercars through the city’s neon-lit streets. It’s like Fast And Furious: Tokyo Drift, just a lot less glossy but still keeping the same energy.
From making waves with his 2016 release, “Dun Talkin“, which was the first video on the GRM Daily to reach 10 million views, to selling over 2 million singles in the UK alone, Kojo Funds is and will continue to be undoubtedly one of the driving forces behind the sound of UK black diaspora.
