Ireland-born, LA-based music sensation Eiza Murphy is back on the scene with her latest single “This Is Goodbye”. This latest track, written by Eiza herself and produced by her sister Lenii, holds more than just a goodbye to a lover – it encapsulates Eiza’s experiences of leaving people and places behind.
Having relocated several times – from Ireland to New York, then London, and finally settling in Los Angeles – Eiza has grown accustomed to the process of saying goodbye.
Each move required her to leave behind not just family and friends, but also familiar apartments and routines. As a result, “This Is Goodbye” serves as a reflection of Eiza’s ability to compartmentalize, leave everything behind, and forge ahead, fueled by these past experiences.
Eiza explained, “Even though “This Is Goodbye” sounds like I’m talking about the end of a relationship with someone, it’s actually about a lot of goodbyes I’ve had to say when moving from place to place. Once I left Ireland and got over the first move, every goodbye after that became a lot easier. It’s about not fighting the inevitable and just letting it happen.”
Over the last few months, alongside finalizing her debut EP, Eiza has been lending her songwriting talents to other artists, including Kenzie Ziegler and Alan Walker for their recent track “Sickly Sweet.”
Eiza’s music career has already witnessed impressive achievements. Her debut singles have been featured in Netflix’s Riverdale series and Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday,’ and they’ve secured the top spot on iTunes Ireland three times.
Additionally, BBC Introducing and RTE2FM have honored her music as the ‘Track of The Week.’ Her distinct sound and storytelling have garnered support from various music publications, such as Earmilk, Early Rising, Hotpress, and Music Crowns U.K.
Eiza’s journey into music started at the tender age of fifteen when she moved to New York to study Logic Pro music production at Dubspot School of Electronic Music, standing out as the only female and the youngest in a class of 20 men. Since then, she has performed in renowned venues, including Winston House, Tobacco Dock, Battersea Evolution, and the London National Film Theatre.
As Eiza Murphy enters the next chapter of her music career, “This Is Goodbye” offers listeners an insight into her personal journey of goodbyes and new beginnings. As she has demonstrated, moving on does not necessarily mean cutting ties but accepting the inevitable and embracing change.
