Lo Artiz, a Miami-born artist now based in Los Angeles, recently unveiled her self-produced track, “Bi Panic”. Marking the end of Summer 2023, the song delves into the exhilarating whirlwind of budding romance while juxtaposing it against memories of an earlier relationship.
This alternative pop number artfully balances flirtatious tones with moments of introspection, especially evident in its deeply personal third verse which touches upon the unique vulnerabilities of intimacy between two women.
“Bi Panic” stands out as a celebration of bisexuality, not only resonating with those who’ve grappled with their sexual orientation but also capturing the essence of what many in the community have referred to as a “bi panic moment.”
Reflecting on her intent behind the song, Lo Artiz reveals, “I aimed to encapsulate the infectious feeling of falling in love through the song’s rhythm, while still adding a hint of feminine nuance.”
The LA-based artist, whose upbringing was enriched by her Cuban and Costa-Rican American heritage, seamlessly blends Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop in her music.
Such a unique soundscape has led to Lo being likened to some musical greats, including Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo, and Janis Joplin. Yet, while comparisons abound, Lo Artiz undeniably stands out as a refreshing voice in the contemporary music scene.
Aside from her vocal prowess, she’s a multi-talented force in the industry. With skills spanning multiple instruments, songwriting, producing, and arranging, Lo has carved a niche for herself. Her energetic performances and expansive vocal range further attest to her talent, making her shows a must-see.
In fact, 2022 witnessed her headlining not one, but two sold-out shows at the iconic Viper Room, as well as a packed performance at the legendary Troubadour in Los Angeles.
As the world continues to navigate challenging times, artists like Lo Artiz offer a much-needed dose of authenticity, vulnerability, and musical ingenuity.
As “Bi Panic” makes its way into playlists, it’s evident that listeners are in for a treat, not just in terms of melody, but also the depth of the narrative it weaves.
