In a recent interview, Lady Gaga has discussed her feelings about her Oscar nomination. The singer has been nominated alongside songwriter Diane Warren for an Academy Award in the category Best Original Song, for the song “Till It Happens To You”.
The track, which was written for the documentary The Hunting Ground, has received positive responses and has received several nominations, including a nomination at the 58th Grammy Awards Show for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Nonetheless, when asked about the Oscars by Deadline, Lady Gaga said: “Everyone says, ‘Oh, an Oscar nomination’. It’s not about that for me at all. Of course, it’s cool. The Oscars nominated this issue by nominating this song. Now the issue has the media talking about it, hopefully in a way I believe it deserves to be talked about”.
“We can reach more people. When an organisation like The Academy that believes in talent says ‘We care about you’, she added. “That means that message is not just sent to me and Diane, but to people that hear the song and who went through something like this”.
