The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett has spoken out, in a recent interview with The Guardian, about how he feels that The Prodigy are just as influential as iconic artists such as Blur and Oasis, and goes on to say “when you trace the lines back to the Sex Pistols, the Clash, we are in that line”. Vocalist Keith Flint was eager to back Howlett and also said, “everything’s so commercialized, it shuts down the underground”, in reference to today’s dance music. However, it must be understood that Howlett is not stating that he is superior to any other artist, just that The Prodigy’s importance must also be commended for an era of music they contributed greatly to.
