Lindsey Beer To Write & Direct ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Reboot For Paramount

Having recently signed an overall deal with Paramount, Lindsey Beer has set her first project with the studio. She will write and direct a reboot of Sleepy Hollow, while also producing alongside Todd Garner and Spencer Walken of Broken Road Productions.

Sleepy Hollow is a famous tale about a headless horseman who terrorizes a small town and its newest resident, Ichabod Crane. Paramount produced arguably the most well-known version of the story – the 1999 film starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci – but there was also a 2010s Fox series and a 1949 Disney animated movie.

The exact details of this version are unknown right now. Will it be a retelling of the same story? Or something similar with a modern twist?

Beer is currently prepping for a lot of interesting projects. One is another well-known horror project: the Pet Sematary prequel, which will mark her directorial debut when it arrives later this year.

She’s also developing a film titled Susie Thunder, the true story of an infamous hacker from the 1980s, and remains a sought after writer, having recently worked on the in-development Star Trek sequel, turning in a draft for the Bambi remake at Disney, and being hired to pen the script for the Hello Kitty movie at New Line.

On The TV side, she’s also serving as showrunner and creator for Netflix’s The Magic Order, a series based on the comics by Mark Millar. So when you watch anything over the next few years, there will be a solid chance that Beer will have worked on it in some capacity.

There’s currently no word on when exactly Beer’s Pet Sematary prequel will arrive, but we do know that it will be exclusive to Paramount+ whenever it does.
