Studios are always trying to the milk everything they can from their successful franchises. This generated the current trend of splitting the last film into two parts as with Harry Potter, Twilight and most recently Hunger Games. The final part Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 , which can still be seen in cinemas, might not be the end of the franchise.
Speaking at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference, vice chairman of Lionsgate Michael Burns revealed that they are exploring the idea of Hunger Games prequels. They would be set before Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen entered the Hunger Games causing trouble for President Snow. Burns said, “if we went backwards, there obviously would be arenas”.
So apparently audiences want more of kids killing each other in an arena like in the first two films. Are you excited about a Hunger Games Prequel? Would A Hunger Games film without Jennifer Lawrence work? We will keep you updated with more details as they surface.
