It was just last week that Lizzy Caplan was cast in the new series adaptation of classic thriller Fatal Attraction, but she’s already signed on to star in another TV project.
She will star in FX on Hulu’s adaptation of Taffy Brodesser-Akner‘s bestselling novel Fleishman Is In Trouble, where she’s expected to play Libby, the book’s narrator and the titular character’s old college friend.
Fleishman Is In Trouble revolves around Toby Fleishman as he navigates his recent divorce and the world of online dating, surprisingly finding greater success as a 40-something online than he ever did before meeting his ex-wife, Rachel. When she suddenly vanishes and leaves him with the kids, Fleishman is left to juggle the strange new dating landscape, parenting, work, and friends.
Realising that in order to figure out why Rachel disappeared, he must reflect on the 14 years they shared and everything that pushed the relationship to the breaking point.
Brodesser-Akner will write the limited series herself and is also on board as an executive producer. Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine) have been confirmed to direct a number of episodes. The show is being produced by ABC Signature.
Caplan is quickly becoming the queen of TV. In addition to this and the Fatal Attraction casting, she previously starred in Masters Of Sex and portrayed Misery‘s Annie Wilkes in Castle Rock, while voicing the protagonist in new animated Netflix series Inside Out and having a key role in Apple TV+’s drama series Truth Be Told.
These new roles do sadly mean that she won’t be a part of the recently announced Party Down revival, but hey, you can’t have everything.
There currently aren’t any other casting details regarding Fleishman Is In Trouble, nor does it have a release date.
