“Echo The Dusk” is the brand new single by London alt-indie band Victory Kicks, it is the second song to be released from their forthcoming album Free the Night, set to be released later this year.
The song was recorded at home during the spring of 2020. It is talking about the ending of a relationship during the period of lockdown. It is also a remote collaboration between songwriter and guitarists, John Sibley, and London-based indie-folk songwriter, Young Flood guitarist and label-made Sam Beard.Because of lockdown, the mixes of the song were exchange online.
Their upcoming album Free The Night will be their first new album released by Victory Kicks since their 2020 album Lovers In Peacetime and will be their seventh full length release.
This upcoming album was recorded entirely during the various lockdown in the UK. As it was made with a minimal home setup, it has a more somber, reflective feel than the previous record. However, it still has the driving and atmospheric elements that the band is known for.
Victory Kicks began in early 2013 as a home recording project featuring London-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist John Sibley.
It began as a solo project but over the years Victory Kicks is something between that and a collaborative band with regular contribution from friends and members of other London-based acts – including singer/songwriter and guitarist Sam Beard, as well as members of London-based bands The Young Flood, WEM and Plastic Barricades.
Victory Kicks create driving, melodic and atmospheric guitar music. It is drwing its inspiration from bands such as Spoon, The War on Drugs, Death Cab for Cutie and more.
