Third Way is a London-based duo made up of Yorkshireman Xander Edwards and Brazilian Paul Vilas, and they have just released a new song titled “Priestess”, the focus track of the new EP Priestess.
Yorkshireman Xander Edwards and Brazilian Paul Vilas, known as Third Way, are a London-based duo that draws on a wide range of inspirations to create soulful, alternative electronic music with a pop sensibility. With the release of E.P. Priestess, Third Way shifted to a more somber and melancholy tone than their previous singles, “Tides”, and “Guru”.
The songs tackle the feeling of being aimless and having faith in the face of it. Like rain on a window in a darkened space, in one of your more private times.
The band Third Way explained how the duo came up with “Priestess”, “Priestess seemed to emerge during an improvised session, the chords, vocal and lyrics appearing almost fully formed in a tender moment after an hour playing round ideas.
Once we saw what we had we developed it into Priestess. It explores the experience of directionlessness and a sense of faith in the face of it. Like rain on the window of a dimly lit room during one of your quieter moments.”
