London Storyteller Sophomooreik Unveils New Track ‘Pick Me Up’

Sophomooreik, real name Liam Moore, is strongly establishing himself as a savvy and insightful storyteller, assembling a semi-fictional, semi-autobiographical, yet always genuine story that grows over each track.

Moore, 24, grew up with a thirst for finding and seeking out new music, and would spend hours digging through HMV. This is where he unearthed Eminem and became enthusiastic in rap.

Moore was just ten years old when he challenged himself and his peers to start writing verses on beats, go home after school, and come back the next day to perform what they had made.

Moore became aware of the deep of music at this young age, how, in addition to the melodic element of music, there were rhythmic schemes.

He spent his time analyzing and interpreting how words were put together, which became his main focus and influenced him to take music more sincerely. “I was drawn in by the linguistics of it all; the rhyming was technical, and I never wanted to say things just for the sake of the rhyme; it was deeper than that.”

The NW Londoner decided to pursue music, and his sound evolved as he made connections with producers. He now collaborates with producer Beecher to produce gloomy, catchy beats that turn into more rhythmic and serene tracks. This collaboration lets his lyrics navigate the flow.

I figure out what I want to say first, then I look into the beats; I want my lyrics to do all the work and lead the music, not the other way around,” Sophomooreik says, and he follows through.

Sophomooreik’s third EP, EASYAS…[letting go], showcases his genuine narrative and unique blend of trap, electronica, and alternative hip-hop. To be released on November 22nd.
