Lorde Covers Phil Collins’ ‘In The Air Tonight’ For BBC Radio 1 | Music News

These days Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, known better as Lorde, is doing her tour for her most recent album entitled Melodrama, which was released in June.

As she has already said on numerous occasions, for this album the singer was inspired by many artists such as Paul Simon, Don Henley and Kate Bush. One of her favorites is the drummer and lead singer of the rock band Genesis, Phil Collins.

She has always claimed that she is one of his biggest fans. Indeed between the tracks taken from her last album that the artist is performing on her tour, there is also the cover of “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins. She performed this particular cover for BBC Radio 1 in their Live Lounge together with her new single “Green Light”, this morning.

That she likes Collins is not a secret, last month in an interview on Marc Maron she said, “My favorite pop males are the guys that sound like a combination of your boyfriend and your dad. That’s Phil.”
