American singer Devyn Sawyer has just unveiled her latest single “Find Her”. The song has been released independently, and was produced by the artist’s friend Dylan Kennedy.
The track is an R&B piece, that is about a period in life in which any human has felt lost. It’s about these darkest points that everybody reaches, and the questioning and remembering yourself in these situations, that are a transitional period. It tells a story of the normalised escapism through partying, drugs, and love.
The song gives bittersweet and almost angry vibes in the beginning, with subtle sound of arguing in the background. The pounding bass adds something to the record, and highlights the very serious topic the lyrics are approaching, bringing a feeling of heaviness.
It’s not Devyn Sawyer’s first release, as she already has a few singles out, the last of which she released in October of this year. The 21-year-old singer and songwriter is based in Los Angeles, California, and aims at “bringing strong emotions and thoughts through sound”, as she evocates.
She primarily works alongside her friend Dylan Kennedy who produces her projects. Not only does she care about the music she puts out, as she’s also passionate about the visual aspects of her projects, like the photos and colour schemes.
This is the artist’s tenth single, but she is yet to release an EP or full-length project.
