It looks like the Crypt Keeper is set to return, as TNT has ordered 10 episodes of M Night Shyamalan‘s Tales From The Crypt reboot series, based on the beloved EC comics classic.
TNT, with Shyamalan, has recently commissioned a new two-hour weekly horror programming block, set to debut in 2017, which will anchor the anthology series. This horror section will be hosted by the newly ‘reinvented’ Crypt Keeper.
In addition to Tales From The Crypt, a pilot for a show titled Time of Death is in the works as one of the programmes to be scheduled during this spot. Details released outline the show as a series of series-long stories that happen in real time.
Alongside Time of Death, a show titled Creatures is in development – taking inspiration from internet cult horror character Slender Man. In Creatures, two pre-teen girls attempt to cut out the heart of a classmate as a sacrifice to the internet bogeyman Mr Gorgi. The series begins fifteen years later as the girls are released from a psychiatric institute – and Mr Gorgi comes to play once more.
“I’m really thrilled about the way this horror block is coming together with the addition of Time of Death and Creatures,” Shyamalan stated. “That such a beloved property like Tales from the Crypt is launching our evening makes it an even more unique and exciting opportunity. Across the board, the level of talent has been very inspiring.”
