Marc Jacobs’s runaway closed the NY Fashion Week with a collection that recalled the hip-hop style, and that took place directly on the street. Some corners of Park Avenue have been closed and transformed into a catwalk.
With exaggerated Kangol-style hats, seventies platform boots and gold pendants, Jacobs’s collection reminds us that the revolution started from the streets. This is his inspiration: the hip-hop generation from 70s, 80s and 90s.
Jackets, sweaters and denim in fluid Seventies shapes are the main features that composed this typically American-style collection. All these went with argyle sweaters, menswear checked pants and giant fur coats.
This collection shows a more political and philosophical side of the American stylist who designed and presented clothes he loved.
