Legendary DJ and radio presenter, Benji B, has taken up the reigns on Mark Ronson’s chart topping “Uptown Funk”. Dropping most of Bruno Mars’ vocal input sees the song lose none of its funkiness and gain even more disco fabulousness. Wiping out the trademark jangly guitar and bringing in an extended intro which gives centre stage to a rattled bassline and the original’s looping vocals, the song climaxes into a plethora of heavy disco sparkle. The track is simply taken from daytime radio staple to late night dance-floor anthem in 6 minutes of Benji B magic.
Ronson’s new LP is set for release on the 19th of January and currently available to stream on Guardian Music. This mix will be available on vinyl in two weeks time – an invaluable addition to any fan’s record collection for when a stripped back, danceable version of Mark Ronson’s pop-funkiness is needed.
