Today, the award-winning New Zealand singer-songwriter and guitarist, Marlon Williams has just unveiled the music video for his new single “Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore“. This single is the lead song from his second studio album Make Way For Love which will be out on February 16, 2018 via Dead Oceans.
“Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore” is a duet with the gothic-folk singer Aldous Harding in which we can hear Marlon’ deep and distinguished voice matching perfectly with Aldous’ one. Listening to it, we are discovering more maturity and an exponential growth of the artist and this is because of his will to explore a bigger landscape of music which is reflected all through the album.
“Aldous and I recorded ‘Nobody Gets…’ remotely.’ I [was] in LA and she in Cardiff a month or so later. I had wanted to do it at the same time and place but it wasn’t to be. Which, of course, approaches what the song is about. I wrote it as an apology, in the classical sense – a defense for the bond between us, against the storybook feelings of resentment and doubt that come with the termination of any relationship“, Marlon explains.
The album addresses and tackles the theme of love and relationship in all its shades: bliss, ache, uncertainty, bitterness, delicate, bold, tender and searing.
