Mary Berry, national treasure, championed The Great British Bake Off to glory, putting novice cake makers and pastry preparers in every kitchen. The British show was broadcast worldwide, and sold to 196 territories as of 2015. Now, there’s hope for another global kitchen invasion, as Mary Berry is set to judge in yet another show, this time looking for Britain’s Best Cook.
Britain’s Best Cook will be hosted by Strictly Come Dancing‘s Claudia Winkleman, with a second judge to yet be cast. An eight part competition, the show will see ten contestants demonstrate their skills in serving dishes that define modern British home cooking, while also aiming to serve flair, and dramatic twists to stand out.
Creators are probably to find the next Nadiya Hussain, winner of GBBO 2015, who has now led her own series of shows, including upcoming BBC Two competition The Big Family Cooking Showdown.
This new project comes a year after traitor producers of the hit show were seduced by Channel 4 for more money. Berry, a master of the kitchen with 75 books to her name, remained loyal to the BBC, but former co-judge Paul Hollywood revealed himself as the snake he is.
Britain’s Best Cook, reportedly a working title, will premiere next year on BBC One.
