While rumours of the latest casting for The Great Wall have been circulating for a while now, it’s now been officially confirmed that super-star trio Matt Damon, Willem Dafoe and Pedro Pascal are set to star in the Yimou Zhang flick. The brilliant Hero and House of Flying Daggers director will helm the project, telling the story of the mystery centered around the construction of The Great Wall of China.
Legendary will be bringing the film to life, which will also star the likes of Jing Tian, Zhang Hanyu, Eddie Peng, Lu Han, Lin Gengxin, Zheng Kai, Chen Xuedong, Huang Xuan, Yu Xintian, Liu Qiong and Wang Junkai. With this huge cast and production, The Great Wall is being called the biggest movie to ever be shot entirely in China for global distribution.
Set in 15th Century China, the film will follow a group of British Warriors who stumble across The Great Wall while it’s in construction. What first appears to be a safety precaution to keep out the Mongol’s, soon turns into a far more disturbing and inhumane secret. Matt Damon always gets it bang on with his roles and I’m actually really excited to see Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal in a bigger role! The Great Wall is set to hit theatres on November 23, 2016.
