Milan Fashion Week is still going on, whether the fashion brands do it physically or virtually, with the fashion fans still expecting new collections. The Italian brand Max Mara had its show this week, but this year was even more special than the other ones – and I’m not talking about the pandemic.
This year, the fashion brand is celebrating its anniversary! It’s been 70 years since founder Achille Maramotti created this brand, made for independent women, so this 2021 Fall/Winter ready-to-wear collection has a special taste for the Max Mara team. This collection is a sort of reflection of how Maramotti saw women in 1951 with a modern touch.
The current fashion designer of the brand, Ian Griffiths had, for this collection, the idea to put back some of the most influential pieces of the 1950s. Even though many pieces came from British fashion because of their ‘muse’ Queen Elizabeth II‘s style, the designer created a mix of these influences.
The collection has 42 different pieces with all of them carrying a neutral tone. Most of the items are light brown, black, some touches of yellow or red. Some iconic pieces were once again brought up to date, such as the bomber jacket, teddy-bear coat, patterned skirts, Aran sweaters, and even their famous coat Tesoro della corona, and more.
Regarding the materials, the alpaca wool, cashmere, silk, and camel hair were the stars of the show. Mixing these materials with diverse styles, a bit of punk, country, and classic made this collection. The major goal here is to feel like women can be empowered and independent in these clothes.
Since 1951, the fashion brand has come a long way and made an impact on women’s clothes, Maramotti’s goal was to dress the wives of lawyers, doctors, and more well-seen professions, but nowadays women want to stand out and thanks to these brand like Max Mara it is possible, all of that while staying chic.
